A Message from Stephanie Sharp, Director of Religious Education at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church

Greetings from the Religious Education Team and me, your Director of Religious Education. We are so excited to begin another year of RE at All Souls. Our Mission is to welcome you with warmth and open arms into an environment where each person is valued for his or her unique gifts. A place where children and youth may come to explore what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist and to be part of this Beloved Community. We are here to help guide these young people as they develop and discover there own personal theology. A quote from William Ellery Channing comes to mind:

"[We come together] not to stamp our minds irresistibly on others but to strip up their own;

...not to make them see with our eyes, but to look inquiringly and steadily with their own;

...not to form outward regularity, but touch inward springs;

...not to impose religion on them in the form of arbitrary rules, but to awaken the conscience, the moral discernment, so that they may discern and approve for themselves what is everlasting, right, and good."

We hope the children and youth experience "WOW!" moments on Sunday mornings. As we strive to engage them in a variety of ways to enhance their learning experience, we invite you to help by offering our teachers support when you can and by engaging your children and youth in conversation about their learning experiences. Arrive on time and attend regularly so that they will develop a sense of belonging and so that we will get to know them better.

Thanks to all of the teachers and volunteers who offer their time so generously. We couldn't do it without you.

If ever you have any questions, comments, or concerns about our Religious Education Program, feel free to contact me or any member of the RE Team. We look forward to sharing with you and your family a year of growth, wonder, and joy.

Blessings,

Stephanie Sharp
