 ere is a large circular water reservoir adjacent to the parking lot.\n\nHI

 HIKE DIFFICULTY RANGE: Easy\n\nHIKE DESCRIPTION: High Chaparral Open Space
  is the highest point in eastern Colorado Springs at 6800 feet and is char
 acterized by a prominent ridge line vegetated with scrub oak mixed with pr
 airie grass. Views from the crest of the ridge include the Spanish Peaks a
 nd the Wet Mountains to the south\, the Black Forest to the north\, and an
  uninterrupted view of Colorado Springs to the west. We will be hiking the
  Prairie Loop Trail.\n\nHIKER PREPARATION/EQUIPMENT: The terrain is a fair
 ly flat gravel path. Bring water.\n\nDRIVING DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: from
  I 25\, take exit 146 and drive east on Garden of the Gods Rd.\, which bec
 omes Austin Bluffs Pkwy for about 6.8 miles. Turn right on Stetson Hills a
 nd proceed .4 miles east. Near the top of the hill looked for the high cha
 parral sign on your right and turn into the parking lot.\n\nRESTROOM: None
 \n\nPETS: dogs on a leash are allowed\, be sure to pick up after your pet.
