The Personnel Team is charged by the Board of Trustees and by the membership of All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church to operate like Human Resources departments in that they don’t hire, manage or supervise staff but instead, advise the Board and Head of Staff/Minister on best practices for the non-ordained, paid staff of the Church. The Personnel Team will recommend and write Policies and Procedures on HR management practices that comply with applicable state employment laws. The Personnel Team will ensure policy compliance by reviewing job descriptions, performance evaluation forms, record-keeping practices, fair compensation considerations, onboarding and off-boarding procedures, benefits and retirement, and other processes and procedures related to employment. The Personnel Team will proactively recommend to the Minister/Head of Staff and Team on Ministry specific performance management processes. The Personnel Team will provide input and make recommendations to the Team on Ministry in Ministerial matters. The Team on Ministry shall be responsible for HR matters affecting the ministerial staff including, but not limited to, delivering minister performance reviews, negotiating initial and changes in contracts, working with the Finance Team on compensation package details, etc. The Personnel Team shall consist of three (3) Church members serving at the discretion of the Board.
