Join us for our Annual Picnic, which includes an outdoor Sunday Service!
Service will begin at 9:30. This is our final "One Service Sunday" before returning to two services.
After this special service, it's time for our Annual Picnic!
The Social Activities Committee will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, and veggie dogs.
Congregants: Please bring something to share! The team will have coolers to keep cold dishes cold!
Please note: There is a fee associated with entering the park. If you do not have an annual state parks pass or the state park pass attached to your car registration, you can purchase a $10 daily vehicle pass, or consider carpooling with someone who has a pass!
Sunday, September 6th is our annual picnic. We invite you to join us for a day of food, fun, and fellowship!
Where: Cheyenne Mountain State Park at the Prairie Skipper Pavilion (there will be a sign at the turn into the parking lot to help direct you)
When: 9:30 AM service will be begin, and food will follow shortly after the conclusion of service!
Getting into the park: Cheyenne Mountain is a Colorado State Park, so with that comes fees to enter the park. If you have a state parks pass or the parks pass that can be attached to your car’s registration, you are set to go. If you do not have a pass, a daily pass of $10 per car can be purchased. We encourage those without passes to consider carpooling with one another, or someone who does have a pass. There was an announcement made about parking in the parking lot near the visitor center and carpooling from there, but we have recently been made aware that the rangers require cars in that parking lot to have passes as well. If planning to carpool, your best option is to coordinate with others in your group to either meet at church, or at the Safeway Parking lots off of hwy 115 located not too far from the park!
What to expect when you arrive: The Prairie Skipper Pavilion is completely accessible for all! There is a large parking lot, designated handicap parking spots, paved walkways with ramps into the pavilion area. The shaded area of the pavilion is very large and is equipped with plenty of picnic tables to seat everyone. Coffee will be present for those who need their fix! There is also a playground next to the pavilion along with space for horse shoes and corn hole boards! There are bathrooms directly next to the pavilion and water fountains along with water bottle fillers.
What to bring: Start with yourself! If you’re able, we would love for you to bring a side dish to share! The pavilion has many outlets to plug in items brought in crockpots. I f bringing a cold dish, consider bringing it in a cooler if you have one, but some will be available to help keep your items cold if needed! We will have burgers, hotdogs, and veggie alternatives along with buns provided. Some drinks will be provided as well, but it’s always a good idea to bring your water bottle along! Things that might improve your experience include sunscreen, closed toed shoes (if you might want to check out a trail while visiting the park), layers to accommodate for the chillier mornings and warmer afternoon temps, and bag/camp chairs if you think sitting on picnic table benches may be a bit uncomfortable for you!
